Sharjah Declares Four-Day Eid Al Adha Holiday for Government Employees

by Bella

The Sharjah government has announced a four-day holiday for public sector employees in observance of Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha, according to a statement released by the Sharjah Human Resources Department.

The holiday will begin on Thursday, June 5, and continue through Sunday, June 8, providing government workers with an extended break during the Islamic festival.

Regular working hours are scheduled to resume on Monday, June 9, with the exception of employees whose duties are based on shift schedules, the department clarified.

The announcement aligns with the UAE’s broader efforts to mark important religious occasions with designated public holidays, offering time for spiritual reflection and family gatherings.

Eid Al Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
