Nearly nine in 10 Singaporeans intend to make the most of their summer holidays this year, with many adopting strategic approaches to stretch their travel budgets, according to a new report by travel search engine Skyscanner.
The survey revealed that 89% of respondents are planning to travel during the summer, with a strong focus on value and flexibility. Half of the respondents said they are using travel comparison tools to secure the best deals on flights, accommodation, and car rentals.
Cost-saving strategies extend beyond tools, with 42% opting to travel during the shoulder season—just before or after peak periods—to avoid crowds and reduce expenses. Additionally, 78% of travellers said they are open to adjusting their departure dates to take advantage of cheaper fares.
In an effort to further reduce costs and enrich their travel experience, 77% of respondents expressed a willingness to visit lesser-known destinations, while 36% plan to visit multiple destinations in a single trip.
The Skyscanner report also identified the top three most affordable travel destinations for June and September: Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia, followed by Haikou, China.
