The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a special holiday on June 5 for government employees attending the Andhra Pradesh Government Employees Association (APGEA) state council meeting, scheduled to be held in Vijayawada on June 5 and 6.
The decision comes following a request from APGEA president Suryanarayana, who sought a two-day leave for participating employees. However, the government has officially granted one day of special leave specifically for those attending the event.
Officials clarified that this is not a public holiday but a special casual leave granted exclusively to government employees actively participating in the state council meeting. Employees wishing to avail themselves of this leave must submit formal applications through their respective departments, with participation verification required.
Government departments have been instructed to accommodate this leave while ensuring that essential services and daily operations continue without interruption.
This move is viewed as an encouragement by the state government to support employee engagement in organizational activities. The announcement holds particular significance for employees planning travel arrangements to Vijayawada and managing their work schedules around the sanctioned holiday.
