The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, as public holidays to commemorate the 2025 Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on Tuesday on behalf of the federal government. He extended his congratulations to all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and the diaspora, urging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice and unwavering faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on the Muslim community to use the festive period to offer prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.

The statement, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Oluwatoyin Magdalene Ajani, highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to implement reforms aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The people-centered initiatives being pursued by this administration are designed to return Nigeria to the path of growth and national restoration,” the statement read.

The minister concluded by wishing the Muslim Ummah a joyous Eid-ul-Adha celebration and encouraged all citizens to support the government’s efforts to build a more prosperous and united nation.
