The Sindh Education Department has officially announced that summer vacations for all public and private educational institutions across the province will commence on June 1, 2025, in response to the intensifying heatwave affecting students and staff.
According to the notification issued Thursday, the summer break will run through July 31, with academic activities set to resume on August 1, 2025.
The directive applies uniformly to schools and colleges operating under both government and private management in Sindh, including Karachi. Authorities stated the decision aims to safeguard the health and well-being of students amid rising temperatures during the peak summer months.
“All educational institutions are instructed to strictly comply with the announced schedule,” the department said in a statement. “This break provides an opportunity for students and teachers to rest and protect themselves from extreme weather conditions.”
Guidance for Parents and Students
Parents are encouraged to ensure that students remain hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. The Education Department also advised families to use the summer break for productive and recreational activities within safe environments.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Also Announces Summer Vacations
Meanwhile, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has also issued its summer vacation schedule for educational institutions. In the province’s summer zone (plains):
Primary schools will observe holidays from June 1 to August 31.
Middle, high, and higher secondary schools will have vacations from June 15 to August 31.
These decisions are part of broader efforts by provincial governments to mitigate the impact of seasonal heat on the education sector.
