Jagannath University (JnU) will suspend academic and administrative operations for 23 consecutive days beginning this Sunday, the university announced in an official notice on Tuesday.

The extended break combines the university’s scheduled summer vacation with the Eid-ul-Azha holidays. According to the notice, signed by Acting Registrar Professor Dr Md Sheikh Giash Uddin, the university will remain closed from May 25 to June 12.

Factoring in weekends at both the start and end of the period, students will receive a 23-day holiday in total.

In addition, all departments, institutes, and administrative offices will be closed specifically from June 4 to June 12, the notice stated.

Despite the closure, essential services—including electricity, water, gas, telephone, internet, campus security, and sanitation—will continue uninterrupted throughout the holiday period.

Jagannath University is one of the major public universities in Bangladesh, serving thousands of students in the heart of Dhaka. The university is expected to resume normal operations on June 13.
