Crackdown on Transporters Overcharging During Eid Holidays

by Bella

The district administration of Tank has initiated a stringent crackdown on transporters found overcharging passengers during the Eid ul Azha holiday period.

This action follows directives issued by the provincial government aimed at providing relief to travelers by strictly enforcing fare regulations and preventing exploitation.

Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) Revenue, Saifullah Jan Marwat, led surprise inspections along the Tank–Dera Ismail Khan Road, scrutinizing several passenger vehicles.

The inspections revealed that multiple transporters were charging fares exceeding the official rates and were disabling air conditioning in vehicles equipped with AC, thereby violating consumer rights and transport regulations.

As a result, hefty fines were imposed on the offending transporters. The AAC also issued stern warnings to drivers and vehicle owners, instructing full compliance with the prescribed guidelines.

“Ensuring passenger welfare is our top priority,” said AAC Marwat. “The administration is committed to providing relief to the public, especially during the Eid holidays, and has implemented a comprehensive monitoring plan to prevent any malpractice by transporters.”

The administration has urged passengers to report any violations to the relevant authorities to help maintain fair and lawful transport services throughout the holiday season.
