Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) witnessed a remarkable surge in tourism during the Eidul Azha holidays, with over 652,000 visitors flocking to the province’s popular tourist destinations in just three days, according to the provincial Tourism Authority.

Muhammad Saad, spokesperson for the Tourism Authority, reported that the Galiyat region attracted the largest crowd, hosting approximately 177,000 tourists.

The picturesque valleys of Naran and Kaghan followed closely with a combined visitor count of 168,000. Malam Jabba saw an influx of 160,000 visitors, while Upper Dir recorded 85,000 arrivals.

Director General of the Tourism Authority, Habibullah Arif, credited this success to special directives from Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Tourism Adviser Zahid Chanzeb, aimed at enhancing visitor experience by ensuring the availability of comprehensive facilities.

He further highlighted the role of tourism police, who provided continuous support throughout the holidays, and noted that the Tourism Helpline (1422) operated 24/7 to assist travelers.

Arif also noted a notable increase in tourist visits to the newly merged districts, attributing the trend to improved security measures and ongoing development projects in the region. “Ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for tourists remains the government’s top priority,” he said.

The surge in visitors not only contributed significantly to the local economy but also helped reinforce KP’s positive image across the country.
