Snooker icon Jimmy White will visit Parker’s Pub in Kilflynn on Sunday, June 1, for a special exhibition event in support of the Kilflynn Community Together fundraiser.
White, 63, widely celebrated as one of the finest players of his generation and affectionately known as “The Whirlwind,” will take part in an exhibition match, followed by a meet-and-greet session with fans. The evening will also feature a BBQ and a question-and-answer segment.
Throughout his illustrious career, White secured two of snooker’s prestigious Triple Crown titles — the 1984 Masters and the 1992 UK Championship. Despite reaching six World Snooker Championship finals, he remains one of the sport’s greatest players never to have won the world title.
The event is organised by Mike Parker of Parker’s Pub, who highlighted the significance of hosting a player of White’s calibre. “We’ve previously welcomed Dennis Taylor and Ken Doherty to the pub, so it was only fitting to bring in Jimmy White as the next major name. Ticket sales are gaining momentum, and we’re hopeful for a strong turnout to support the Kilflynn Community Together group,” Parker said.
Mike Brady, Chairperson of Kilflynn Community Together, emphasised the vital role the volunteer-led group plays within the village. “We’re a small, community-based organisation focused on maintaining and improving the village. We coordinate local events such as Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, and the Christmas tree lighting. We rely entirely on donations, so Mike’s efforts with this event are a tremendous help,” Brady explained.
VIP tickets are priced at €20, with doors opening at 7 p.m. The first frame of the exhibition match is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Standard admission tickets cost €10. Tickets are available at Parker’s Pub and via the pub’s official website.
