Tourism Flourishes in Rangamati During Eid Holidays

The Eid holidays have brought a significant influx of tourists to the scenic hill district of Rangamati, as visitors from across Bangladesh flock to its hills, lakes, and waterfalls.

On the third day of the Eid vacation, Monday, hundreds of tourists were seen at popular destinations including Polwel Park, DC Bungalow, Kaptai Lake, the Hanging Bridge, Asambosti-Kaptai Road, and Shubolong Waterfall. These locations experienced high visitor traffic throughout the day, with some sites reaching near full capacity.

Local hotels and motels reported occupancy rates between 70 and 80 percent. Mohammad Salauddin, owner of Hotel Cosmos International in Rangamati, confirmed that all rooms are fully booked until Saturday due to the Eid rush. Similarly, Rayhan from Hotel Hill Ambassador reported nearly 80 percent booking for the coming days.

At Polwel Park, visitors enjoyed boat rides on Kaptai Lake and leisurely walks across the Hanging Bridge. Dhaka residents Nikhil Dash and his wife described the park as “stunning” and said they were mesmerized by Rangamati’s natural beauty.

Nearby, Nisarga River Valley and Pod House in Kaptai attracted large crowds. Visitors Alauddin and Tipu, who traveled from the City Gate area with friends, praised the area’s scenic charm. Another group from Chandraghona in Rangunia, Chittagong—Jahangir, Nasir, Faruk Sikder, and Touhid—said Kaptai remains their favorite destination, noting the rapid growth of tourism in recent years.

Md Afsar Uddin, director of Nisarga River Valley and Pod House, reported full occupancy across all 17 cottages, with their restaurant serving between 150 and 200 guests at a time. “The turnout has been excellent during Eid,” he said. Nasim Ahmed, owner of Nisarga Kutir, echoed this sentiment, highlighting strong business activity.

Authorities are also ensuring a safe environment for visitors. Ali Ullah, investigation officer at Kaptai police station, stated that law enforcement agencies are actively working to maintain security throughout the region during the holiday period.

The surge in visitors underscores Rangamati’s growing appeal as a major tourist destination, especially during festive seasons.
