President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially declared five additional local holidays throughout the Philippines in the month of June, according to recent proclamations posted on the Official Gazette website.
The declarations were signed earlier this week and made public on Thursday afternoon, granting residents in specific municipalities a special non-working day to commemorate significant local anniversaries and celebrations.
In a statement accompanying the proclamations, President Marcos emphasized the importance of allowing citizens to fully participate in and enjoy these occasions. “It is fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” he said.
The new local holidays include:
June 17: Bindoy, Negros Oriental will observe a special non-working day in celebration of its 76th charter anniversary, as declared under Proclamation No. 905.
June 18: Barlig, Mountain Province marks its 59th founding anniversary with a special non-working day under Proclamation No. 906.
June 18: San Fernando, Bukidnon will also observe a special non-working day to commemorate its 59th founding anniversary through Proclamation No. 907.
June 20: Guinayangan, Quezon is set to celebrate its 221st founding anniversary with a special non-working day as designated by Proclamation No. 908.
June 21: San Francisco, Agusan del Sur will hold a special non-working day in honor of its “Araw ng San Francisco,” according to Proclamation No. 909.
With these latest additions, June now features a total of 30 special non-working days across various localities nationwide.
